Christian’s 2012-2013 season promises to be an exciting one! He begins with a new production of Handel’s Julius Caesar at English National Opera directed by Michael Keegan-Dolan, whose work with his Fabulous Beast company is an amazing blend of dance and drama; Julius Caesar is his first opera and promises to be something very special.
After a quick break from the stage for some some concerts with EOC, including a programme of Vivaldi for Spitalfields Winter Festival, Christian returns to ENO for the first UK staging of one of the greatest masterpieces of the French Baroque, Charpentier’s Medee. The amazing David McVicar promises a lavish and provocative production, and Sarah Connolly as Medea is sure to set the stage ablaze- possibly literally!
in March 2013, Christian is thrilled to have been asked to conduct Purcell’s Hail Bright Cecilia! and Dido and Aeneas for the Britten-Pears Young Artists Programme in Aldeburgh, as part of the Britten Centenary Celebrations.
in April and May 2013 Christian returns to the Salzburger Landestheater to conduct his favourite opera, Handel’s Ariodante, with the wonderful Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra in the pit.
June sees an incredibly exciting residency for Early Opera Company, to be announced soon, with performances including a Handel Oratorio, Bach Cantatas and some Monteverdi Ballets in collaboration with some of Britain’s best young choreographers and dancers; watch this space. Then Christian’s back to Stuttgart Opera for a revival of Rameau’s Platee, and then EOC’s 13th season at Iford! you can’t get too much of a good thing, and Iford is the very best!
